Edinburgh Flotarium Beauty Salon January 4, 2010
The Edinburgh Floatarium offers its clients a unique and innovative way to relax by making use of the calming powers of water.
Although the Floatarium is a well rounded therapy center that offers a wide range of facilities and products including reflexology and skin care treatments, its major attraction is its float tanks, which give the gift of relaxation through floating. Guests are enclosed in these lightweight and sound proof tanks as they float safely on ten inches of water that has been specially treated with Epsom Salts and minerals to increase a body’s buoyancy and to provide a peaceful and stress-reducing experience. The water is heated to body temperature to ensure maximum comfort and visitors can choose to float in silence or to listen to calming music while they float. The Floatarium also offers special floating packages including the Luxury Float, which consists of a whole hour’s relaxing float plus a special gift of Dead Sea Products.
There is much more to do at the Floatarium than just float, however, and guests should also try one or more of their massage therapies which range from those as well known as aromatherapy to those as obscure as the Indian head massage and Shiatsu. Therapeutic massages, massages that specifically target sports injuries and massages that feature the highly effective Reiki technique are also on offer. The Floatarium also employs a qualified chiropodist who specializes in treating feet for common disorders like ingrown toenails and corns.
The spa and beauty treatments on offer at the Floatarium are many and varied and range from face treatments that include the innovative face mapping technique to full body treatments that feature hydro active mineral salt scrubs and hydrating body wraps. There are also inch loss treatments, hand and nail treatments, progressive hair removal programs, waxing and electrolysis. The Floatarium also offers Dermalogica, the comprehensive skin care treatment system that was created by the International Dermal Institute.
Gift vouchers are available, as well as package deals, and guests should also take the opportunity to browse through the wonderful items for sale at the Floatarium’s shop, which include candles, crystals and branded products like Intra and Aloe Vera. The Edinburgh Floatarium’s hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9am to 8pm, Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
